I did a selfportrait slash charcature for the second mandala. the Mandalas we have been doing are a really good excerise to get your cogs going. it really is a great to start the moring out drawing.

For my still life i showed a digital print form a series I am working on. The series is a group of digital prints with a M-16 as the focal point. The M-16 is not an object but more of a person. The rifle is placed in diffrent domistic inviroment. The prints are suppose to talk about how a veteran has to adapt to a domistict inviroment

I really wanted to do something diffrent with this self portrait. I thought about it for a long time. I thought about how i really did not want to take a traditonal approach to the self portrait. I have been realy craving to draw which is traditonal. I came up with using my DD214 and layering that with injuries that I sustaind in the military. This is more of a protrait of who i was and not who I am now it represents my past. In the end my past reflects my present and my future.

Meeting Franco Mondine Ruize is like hitting a brick wall. He comes at you with full force with no apologies. when you enter his house you are bombarded with objects, plants, cats, birds, and everything else under the sun. You are completely transported to a different land, I like to call it Franco land think Willi Wonka an the chocolate factory "watch your step". the house is a work of art itself. The house was given to him by his mother and he transformed it into a work of art.

When I goth their Franco was very gracious its like the calm before the storm or similar to waiting for a ride at amusement park. First Franco introduced himself and talked about his history, nothing was off limits by the way and it was all offered. Franco talked about how he was a in law and moved to art after not being satisfied with his job kind of Jeff Koonisk but the difference is that Franco has a passion in himself and his work.

Franco runs his land like a business. he has a few assistance that are artist themselves "Brison and Holly". Franco was a great insight into how to properly mange your art career. He gave us a few pointer suggesting that your time is worth money.

A-Z

So From A-Z is a lot harder than I expected to be I was sure this project was going to be quick, I was very wrog. at first I sat on my couch sketching away anything that i saw that came up with the corresponding letter. needless to say that didn't go so well. after about two hours forcing myself to find the right object I gave in and got up off the my butt. After this happened I found it a lot easier to sketch of course. I was able to expand my reach of object just by moving from the couch to the bedroom and then to the kitchen and eventually outside.

Sketching objects in this project was good practice because it forced me to sketch thing i really did not want too. the project really took you out of your comfort zone. After a while I was able to get into a grove and start to enjoy the proses.but towards the end a certain amount of fatigue set in and the drawing almost coud have been abstract drawings.

Anattsui is an African artist who uses aluminum and copper wire to make these blankets. His work reminds me of Gustav Klimt’s. This work may be the struggles his country has to go through but also may say how he gets comfort with his land.

where do i wana be in 5 years huh? I guess I would like to own a house and have a job that would support my art and then someday be able to support my family on my art. I would like to see my partner be able to do the same thing with her art. But what ive learned from setting goals is that you may not always get their but you should try and anything can happen at any time

Ladybugs and banana trees

Lately ive been thinking a lot about my family and their symbols. When i was young my cousins and I used to play outside in the back of my grandfathers house. My grandpa had this Banana tree which we would tear the leaves off and act if they were money, it was also just fun to tear the leaves off. But it seemed thats the first place we would go, I guess the banana tree reminds me of not just my grandpa but of both my grandparent and my cousins. Oh the banana tree never grew bananas.
for the last two months It seems as if though i have seen a lot of ladybugs . I really don't no what that means but i have some personal ideas about it anyway maybe its just the seasons but i don't think so

Three movies

The best three movies I have seen this year are Atonement, Their Will Be Blood, and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. In all three movies the amazing for me in their own way, Atonement and the Diving Bell and the Butterfly for its Cinematography and editing Their Will Be Blood for its Score or sound.
Atonement is a more classic movie and with a twist, its cinematography by Seamus McGreevy and its Editing by Paul Tothill. Atonement really pushes the camera at times in almost an experimental way giving the audience and experience with the characters emotional state.
The Diving Bell and The Butteryfly is about Chief editor of Elle magazine going paralyze only able to move one eye, Now with that said the cinematography in this movie as well is amazing. Janusz Kaminski , the directory of cinematography really puts you in the position of the main Character, Kaminski uses the camera as the only functional part of the body which is his eye.
Their Will Be Blood Score is amazing and my personal favorite movie of the year. I love the story and acting but most of all I love the score. The Score itself is more like sound rather than using symphonic tones the score uses a series of different objects like clocks and other objects. In the opening scene you can almost feel the heat just because of the sound if heat had sound that would be it.

Terry Yumbulul is an aboriginal artist who will be featured at the UTSA Satellite Space. Yumbulul work is highly respected in his clan which is called the Galpu, he was commissioned by his clan to create an object called the Morning star pole which is sacred object . Yumbulul work that will be featured in the UTSA Satellite Space is paint on canvas and really captures his culture.
